Summer Reading Club is Here!

It’s that time of year again… time to sign up for Summer Reading Club! This year, the SRC theme is “Imagine the Possibilities!” and we are excited to explore imagination, creativity, and the joy of reading. From art and invention to superheroes and space travel, every child can find something to spark their passion this year. Kids record their reading every week in their reading logs, and once they bring in their completed logs they will receive a prize and a medal! This year’s Summer Reading Club is generously sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association, with funding from the Libraries Branch, BC Ministry of Education, and CUPE BC.

In Summer Reading Club, the focus is on having fun and getting excited about reading. Don’t like reading novels? No problem! Comics, information books, and online articles are great ways to practice reading. Listening to an audiobook or having an adult read to you are also good ways to participate! Interested in signing up? Join us for our Launch Party on Friday, June 28 at 2:00pm here at the library. There will be activities, treats, and the chance to sign up and take home your reading log. If you can’t make it to the launch party, never fear! Come in and register any time at the library desk. All children are also welcome to attend our Summer Reading Club drop-in programs, whether or not they are completing an SRC reading log. Every session is open to kids of all ages and abilities, but programs from 1:30-3pm on Wednesdays are designed for kids who have finished grades 5-7, and programs from 1:30-3pm on Thursdays are designed for kids who have finished Kindergarten to grade 4. Younger kids are welcome too, as long as they have an adult with them. If you have questions about the Summer Reading Club, please don’t hesitate to contact the library. We look forward to seeing you here in the summer!
