NEW We’ve started a seed library!
By providing free seed access, our hope is to encourage a collective effort towards food sustainability. Thank you for participating!
Maybe you have a plot of land that could be used to grow produce for the food bank. Perhaps you want to instill gardening skills and a love for fresh food in your kids and family. Maybe biodiversity and avenues for community sustainability are important to you. Maybe you’ve thought about seed saving but didn’t know how or what to do with the excess.
How it works: You borrow seeds at the start of the season, and then bring back some dried seeds from your harvest in the fall for the community to share the following year. Limit of 3 seed packs per person. Find the seeds on top of the return bin inside the library.
We will be hosting a seed saving workshop this fall, stay tuned!
Check out these helpful websites for all the growing & seed saving info you need. You’ll find crop growing guides, seed saving tips & more.
Check out the gardening section on the nonfiction shelves too.
Most of the seeds we have now have been donated by Groundswell Greenhouse & local gardeners, so we’re off to a great start of regional adapted seeds. As we get a few seasons under the seed library’s belt, all seeds available will be regionally adapted to grow successfully in this climate (most are now, a few store bought too).
