Get a Library Card

PUBLIC LIBRARY SERVICE IS FUNDED THROUGH TAXATION

The Invermere Public Library offers a FREE, three-year membership to all permanent residents and property owners within the District of Invermere, Village of Canal Flats, and Areas F and G of the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK). From Spillimacheen to Canal Flats. Residents of the Village of Radium Hot Springs must choose to have a library card at one of the Columbia Valley libraries and then use this card at both libraries.

Permanent Residents of the Columbia Valley:

Need to provide a piece of government issued photo ID with a current address within the Columbia Valley such as a driver’s license or health care card.

We will consider a long-term lease agreement of one year or more as proof of permanent residency only if you are unable to present a piece of photo ID with your current address.  The name listed on the long term lease must match with a piece of photo ID.

Recreational Property Owners:

Need to provide a copy of their property tax assessment notice and a piece of government issued photo ID with their permanent home address. The name on the photo ID must match the name listed on the tax assessment notice. One card per recreational proper.

*Unfortunately, utility bills and rent receipts are NOT accepted as proof of residency. *

BC Residents from other communities

Residents of BC with an active membership at another BC library may be eligible for a BC OneCard, giving you borrowing privileges at Invermere Public Library. Please provide your current library card as well as ID with proof of residency for the community that your library card is from.

Temporary Membership

If you do not meet any of the above criteria, a temporary membership is available for $30/year.  When all of the materials have been returned and the card is returned, the library will refund you $15.

Membership responsibilities

You are responsible for all the materials borrowed on your card and for any charges on items that are overdue, lost or damaged. (See Loan, Renewals & Fees for details).

Lost or stolen cards

Cards can be replaced for a cost of $2.00.

Change of contact information

It is important for us to have your current information. If you change your address or other personal information, contact the library and we’ll update your record.
