Borrow ~ Grow ~ Share
We launched our seed library in the spring of 2022. Seed libraries can be found at different public libraries, greenhouses and community spaces.
The goal behind seed libraries is to provide free access to seeds for avid or beginner gardeners. By providing free seed access, our hope is to encourage a collective effort towards food sustainability.
Maybe you have a plot of land that could be used to grow produce for the food bank. Perhaps you want to instill gardening skills and a love for fresh food in your kids and family. Maybe you’ve thought about seed saving but didn’t know how or what to do with the excess.
How it works:
- Borrow seeds from our Seed Library. Limit of 3 seed packs per visit.
- Take an information sheet for the seeds your want to save to donate back (if available).
- Donate seeds back to our library to keep our collection strong and support other gardeners.
With the seed library, you borrow seeds at the start of the season and then bring some back during harvest season for the community to share the following year.
SEED DONATIONS ACCEPTED YEAR ROUND.

Check out the gardening section on the nonfiction shelves too (631-635). Click here to see the catalogue results for “seed saving”. Try searching gardening and other related terms too.
Many of our seeds have been donated by Groundswell Greenhouse, and students from Laird participating in the Groundswell gardening program–thank you! We also have donations from several local gardeners, so the majority of seeds are regionally adapted (have grown here before and are suited to local climate).
